In September the next generation of iPhones is expected to be launched and this will include support for satellite communication. Several news reports have made it clear by a research note released by insightful Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo has anticipated that Apple will include hardware in the iPhone 13 that will allow the mobile to connect to low-earth-orbit satellites.
The right software will allow the iPhone to make phone calls and send and receive messages without connecting to a cellular phone network.
Great But Utopian
Prognostications by Kuo were doubted by some analysts. Several experts in the industry expressed their doubts and concerns regarding the same through different platforms. Tim Bajarin who is the president of Creative Strategies, a technology advisory firm in Campbell, Calif said that “I have my doubts that this is ready for iPhone 13, but we could be surprised. It would be groundbreaking if they could deliver satellite coverage on an iPhone. There are so many dead spots where cellular coverage is not available and this could assure a connection anywhere a person may be, even if it is a dense forest or out in areas not covered by cell sites”.
Several other experts doubt this prediction as it sounds unrealistic and too awesome to be real.
Consumer Interest Not So Promising
Several experts concerning the market and industry have expressed their doubts about the success of the model. The doubt about this prediction is persistent but, this is also the issue will it invoke the consumer’s interest regarding the same. Not everyone in the market will find it useful for them.
This is not wrong to doubt that this will not interest the average user.
The experts have also mentioned that this launch is being done with perfect timing. Several other mobile tech companies are introducing 5G technology into their networks and that is supposed to invoke more public interest hence, this could be challenging for Apple.
Kou however, has mentioned this is the futuristic vision of Apple and it is thinking about the long game than mere quick marketing. Apple has not made any comment either positive or negative about the same.
Customer Experience Perceptibility
With the integration of satellite support to the coming iPhone, the company could offer a new service to the users and this will allow it to have more control over the networks used by iPhone.
Already Advanced on The Schedule
It is believed that Apple has been interested in satellite tech since 2017. Since, then numerous reports have been flowing in the media regarding Apple’s management taking ironclad measures and hiring software, hardware, and aerospace engineers for the same. As per the interception by Bloomberg, there is a possibility that this project can be abandoned.
Conclusion
It is believed by Kuo that iPhone 13 will contain satellite communications technology. This prediction is not being trusted by several experts in the market and industry and analysts concerning the same. Experts believe that this will not succeed at the larger scale in the market as this will not be useful for the customers.
